Miami to Bimini — The Crossing
Depart from Miami in the morning and cross the Gulf Stream to Bimini, the westernmost island of the Bahamas. The crossing takes approximately 2.5 hours on most vessels. Clear customs in Bimini, then anchor in the turquoise shallows off the island. Spend the afternoon swimming, snorkeling, and exploring Bimini's beaches.
- Gulf Stream crossing with potential dolphin sightings
- Bahamas customs clearance handled by your captain
- Afternoon anchoring in Bimini's crystal-clear shallows
- Snorkeling at the Bimini reef or the SS Sapona shipwreck
Bimini Exploration
Wake up anchored in the Bahamas. Spend a full day exploring Bimini — from the white sand beaches on the western shore to the mangrove channels on the east side. Snorkel the reef, visit the Healing Hole (a natural freshwater spring in the mangroves), or simply float in the shallows.
- White sand beaches with few other visitors
- Snorkeling over coral reefs and the Bimini Road formation
- Fresh conch salad and Bahamian cuisine on shore
- Sunset from the deck with unobstructed ocean views
Berry Islands and North Bahamas
For multi-day charters, depart Bimini and cruise southeast to the Berry Islands — a chain of 30 small islands and cays with pristine beaches and exceptional fishing. Anchor at Great Harbour Cay or Chub Cay. The Berry Islands are sparsely populated, offering genuine seclusion.
- Secluded anchorages with private beach access
- Deep-sea fishing for mahi-mahi, wahoo, and tuna
- Crystal-clear snorkeling over shallow reefs
- Untouched natural beauty with minimal development
Nassau or Exuma Cays
Continue south to Nassau for provisioning and nightlife, or head directly to the Exuma Cays — one of the most beautiful island chains in the Caribbean. The Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park is a protected marine reserve with some of the clearest water on earth.
- Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park (protected marine reserve)
- Swimming with nurse sharks at Compass Cay
- The famous Swimming Pigs at Big Major Cay
- Thunderball Grotto — an underwater cave featured in a James Bond film

Common Questions
Bahamas Yacht Charter from Miami — FAQ
How far is the Bahamas from Miami?
Bimini, the closest Bahamian island, is approximately 50 nautical miles east of Miami — about a 2.5-hour crossing on most of our vessels. Nassau is farther southeast, typically requiring an overnight stop in Bimini or the Berry Islands on the way.
Do I need a passport for the Bahamas?
Yes. All US citizens need a valid passport to enter the Bahamas. Your captain handles the customs clearance process upon arrival in Bimini, but every guest must have their passport on board.
What vessels can make the Bahamas crossing?
Most of our fleet can make the crossing to Bimini, from sport boats (for day trips) to super yachts (for extended charters). The vessel choice depends on your trip length, group size, and comfort preferences. For multi-day charters, yachts and super yachts with cabins are recommended.
What is the best time of year for a Bahamas charter?
November through May offers the best conditions — calm seas, warm air, and clear water. December through April is peak season with the highest demand. Summer and early fall are warmer with occasional afternoon showers but offer better pricing and availability.
Can we customize the itinerary?
Absolutely. Every multi-day charter is built around your preferences. Want to focus on fishing? Snorkeling? Beach hopping? Island nightlife? Tell us what matters to your group and we design the route around it. Your captain adjusts in real time based on weather and conditions.
