Miami Yacht Party Planning Guide

· 15 min read

A yacht party in Miami is one of those experiences people remember for years. Biscayne Bay as your backdrop, the Miami skyline glowing at sunset, music playing, and your group having the run of a private vessel — it's a level of celebration you can't replicate in a restaurant or rooftop bar.

This guide walks you through everything you need to plan a yacht party: choosing the right vessel, budgeting, coordinating food and entertainment, and avoiding the mistakes that turn a great idea into a stressful day.

Step 1: Choose Your Vessel

The right vessel depends on three things: your guest count, your budget, and the vibe you're going for.

Sport Boats (26'–37') — The Open-Air Party

Best for: Casual groups of 2–13 who want a fun, active day. Sandbar trips, swimming, music, and sun. Think day-drinking with friends, not a formal event.

  • 2025 Axopar 37: $1,350 (4 hr) · $1,750 (6 hr) · $2,050 (8 hr) — 13 guests, snorkel gear, floating pool
  • 2024 Saxdor 32: $1,400 (4 hr) · $1,850 (6 hr) — 10 guests
  • 26' Crownline: $800 (4 hr) · $1,150 (6 hr) — 8 guests (budget-friendly)

Motor Yachts (50'–70') — The Classic Yacht Party

Best for: Birthdays, bachelorettes, milestone celebrations, and corporate events. Multiple deck areas, flybridge, indoor salon with A/C, full bathroom, and enough room for dancing. This is what most people picture when they think "yacht party."

  • 55' Azimut: $1,950 (4 hr) · $2,650 (6 hr) — 13 guests, great entry-level yacht party
  • 50' Azimut: $2,100 (4 hr) · $2,650 (6 hr) — 13 guests, flybridge
  • 66' Azimut: $2,900 (4 hr) · $4,050 (6 hr) — 13 guests, spacious deck
  • 2025 Galeon 68: $4,600 (4 hr) · $7,350 (8 hr) — 13 guests, 5 Seabobs + E-Foil + water toys included
  • 70' Azimut Flybridge: $4,050 (4 hr) · $6,350 (8 hr) — 13 guests, flybridge party area

Super Yachts (94'–105') — The Unforgettable Event

Best for: Landmark birthdays, engagements, celebrity-level events, and corporate entertaining where you want to make a serious impression. Water slides, jet skis, pools, full crew, and the kind of space that makes everyone's jaw drop.

  • 103' Azimut: $9,800 (4 hr) · $13,250 (8 hr) — water slide, pool, 2 jet skis, 2 Seabobs, gratuity included
  • 105' Azimut: $8,650 (4 hr) · $13,250 (8 hr) — flybridge, elegant entertainment spaces
  • 94' Azimut S10: $10,950 (4 hr) · $15,550 (8 hr) — 5-person crew, lounge/swim platforms on 6hr+

Step 2: Plan Your Budget

Here's how to think about the total cost of a yacht party:

Base Charter Cost

This is the vessel rental including captain, fuel, and crew. At Best Yachting Company, the quoted price is the full base cost — no fuel surcharges or captain fees added later.

Gratuity

15–20% of the charter rate, given to the captain and crew. This is customary in the charter industry. The 103' Azimut is the only vessel in our fleet where gratuity is included in the rate.

Catering (Optional)

You can bring your own food and drinks at no charge (BYOB). If you want professional catering, expect to budget:

  • Charcuterie / snack platters: $15–30 per person
  • Lunch/dinner catering: $40–80 per person
  • Premium sushi / multi-course: $80–150+ per person
  • Custom cake: $50–300+

Catering prices are typical Miami market ranges — we coordinate with local caterers and provide quotes based on your specific requests.

Entertainment & Extras (Optional)

  • DJ: Varies by provider — we coordinate upon request
  • Decorations: Balloons, banners, flowers — varies by scope
  • Drone photography: Available as add-on
  • Water toys: Included on some vessels (Galeon 68, 103' Azimut); rentable on others

Sample Party Budgets

Party Type Vessel Charter + Gratuity (18%) Per Person (13 guests)
Casual day out Axopar 37 (4 hr) $1,350 $1,593 ~$123
Birthday party 55' Azimut (4 hr) $1,950 $2,301 ~$177
Bachelorette 66' Azimut (4 hr) $2,900 $3,422 ~$263
Corporate event 70' Azimut (6 hr) $5,200 $6,136 ~$472
Ultimate celebration 103' Azimut (6 hr) $11,500 $11,500* ~$885

*Gratuity included in 103' Azimut rate. All other rows add 18% gratuity estimate. Food, decorations, and entertainment are additional.

Step 3: Plan Your Itinerary

Your captain will help craft the route, but here are the most popular party itineraries:

The Sandbar Party (3–6 hours)

  1. Depart from dock
  2. Cruise past Star Island and Millionaire's Row (30 min)
  3. Anchor at Haulover Sandbar — swim, wade, socialize (1–3 hours)
  4. Cruise back along the Miami skyline

Best for: Social gatherings, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthday groups

The Sunset Celebration (3–4 hours)

  1. Depart 2 hours before sunset
  2. Cruise through Biscayne Bay and around Star Island
  3. Anchor near the downtown skyline for sunset photos
  4. Return after sunset with the city lights as backdrop

Best for: Romantic celebrations, proposals, intimate milestone events

The Full-Day Experience (6–8 hours)

  1. Morning departure with brunch onboard
  2. Cruise to Key Biscayne / Stiltsville for snorkeling
  3. Sandbar stop for swimming and socializing
  4. Afternoon cruising with music and drinks
  5. Sunset return along the skyline

Best for: All-day celebrations, corporate retreats, wedding parties

Step 4: Coordinate Food & Drinks

BYOB (Bring Your Own)

The most budget-friendly option. All our vessels have coolers. Bring whatever you'd like — there's no corkage fee or beverage charge. Popular approach: guests split the food/drink cost while the host covers the charter.

Professional Catering

Tell us your budget, dietary needs, and cuisine preferences. We coordinate with trusted local caterers and deliver food to the vessel before departure. Popular choices include charcuterie boards, seafood platters, Mediterranean spreads, sushi, and BBQ.

Champagne & Specialty Drinks

Champagne packages and specialty drink setups are available as add-ons. For bachelorette parties and proposals, pre-chilled champagne and floral arrangements can be waiting onboard when you arrive.

Step 5: Book Add-Ons

  • Decorations — balloons, banners, centerpieces, themed setups (birthday, bachelorette, corporate branding)
  • Flowers — bouquets, petal arrangements (popular for proposals and anniversaries)
  • DJ / live music — coordinated upon request
  • Drone photography — aerial shots of your group on the water
  • Water toys — jet skis, Seabobs, paddleboards, snorkel gear (some included with specific vessels)
  • Massage therapist — onboard wellness during the cruise
  • Custom cake — coordinated with local bakeries

Planning for Large Groups (14–100+ Guests)

USCG regulations limit most charter vessels to 12–13 passengers per boat. For groups larger than 13, we coordinate multi-vessel charters where your party cruises together in a flotilla.

Group Size Suggested Setup Starting Budget
14–26 guests 2 motor yachts (e.g., two 55' Azimuts) From $3,900 (4 hr)
27–39 guests 3 motor yachts or mix of sizes From $5,850 (4 hr)
40–52 guests 4 vessels (mix of yacht + sport boats) Custom quote
53–100+ guests 5+ vessel flotilla Custom quote

Multi-vessel parties cruise together, anchor together at the sandbar, and create an on-the-water event that feels like one big party across multiple boats.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a yacht party cost in Miami?

A yacht party in Miami costs $1,950–$15,550 depending on vessel size and duration. A 55' Azimut motor yacht starts at $1,950 for 4 hours (up to 13 guests). A 103' super yacht with water slide, pool, and jet skis runs $9,800–$13,250. For budget-friendly parties, a 37' Axopar sport boat starts at $1,350 for 4 hours (up to 13 guests). All prices at Best Yachting Company include captain, fuel, and crew.

How many people can attend a yacht party in Miami?

USCG regulations limit most charter vessels to 12–13 passengers. For larger groups, multi-vessel charters allow up to 100+ guests cruising together in a flotilla. For example, two 66' Azimut yachts ($5,800 for 4 hours) accommodate 26 guests. Three vessels handle 39 guests. Contact us for custom multi-boat party coordination.

What kind of yacht is best for a party?

Motor yachts (50'–70') are the most popular party vessels — they have spacious decks, flybridge areas, sound systems, and enough room for dancing and socializing. For smaller groups (6–10), a 37' sport boat offers a fun, open-air vibe. For milestone celebrations, a super yacht (94'–105') provides the ultimate party experience with water toys, multiple entertainment areas, and full crew.

Can I bring a DJ on a yacht party?

Yes. DJ equipment can be brought onboard or coordinated through our team. Most of our vessels have Bluetooth sound systems for connecting your own music. For larger events on motor yachts and super yachts, a professional DJ setup with speakers is a popular add-on.

Can I bring my own food and alcohol?

Yes. All Best Yachting Company charters allow you to bring your own food and beverages (including alcohol for guests 21+) at no extra charge. Coolers are provided onboard. We also coordinate professional catering — from charcuterie boards and sushi platters to full multi-course meals — through trusted local partners.

Can I decorate the yacht for a party?

Yes. Balloons, banners, flowers, table settings, and themed decorations are welcome. We coordinate decoration setup before your arrival so everything is ready when you board. Let us know your theme and budget, and our team handles the details.

What is the best time for a yacht party in Miami?

Late afternoon departures (3–5 PM) are the most popular for parties — you get daylight cruising, a sunset on the water, and can extend into the early evening. Saturday afternoons are the busiest booking slot. For a more social atmosphere, timing your cruise to include a Haulover Sandbar stop (best on weekend afternoons) adds a natural gathering point.

What happens if it rains on party day?

Miami afternoon thunderstorms are typically brief (30–60 minutes). Motor yachts and super yachts have enclosed indoor areas with A/C, so the party continues. If conditions are genuinely unsafe, the captain makes the call — safety is non-negotiable. We work with you on rescheduling if weather prevents departure.
